YASIR ARAFAT: WE WILL NEVER BETRAY ARMENIANS

LONDON, OCTOBER 8, ARMENPRESS:The leader of Palestine Yasir Arafat announced that he will never betray Armenians. He said this in his interview given to Al Hayat Arabic newspaper published in London. Stressing that the issue on Jerusalem°s status became the main reason of failure of negotiations on the settlement of Palestinian-Israeli conflict held in Camp David, Arafat said that "Israel wants to control Jerusalem°s Armenian district but we will never betray Armenians". In Camp David it was suggested to divide the Old city into two parts. In this case the Jewish and Armenian sectors would be under control of Israel and the Christian and Muslim would appear under control of Palestine. In his interview given to Al-Ayyam Palestinian newspaper in August of 2000 Arafat said that "Armenian sector belongs to us, we and Armenians are one people".
