Defense Minister stresses the role of Greece in Armenia's defense reforms

YEREVAN, MARCH 4, ARMENPRESS.  Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan stated during a joint press conference on Monday that he presented the process of defense reforms occurring in Armenia to his Greek colleague, highlighting the necessity for Greece's expert and practical support in this regard.

"The visit of the Greek Defense Minister Nikolaos Dendias to Armenia is symbolic, following the visit of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, to the Republic of Greece last week, which encompassed a comprehensive agenda," added the Minister of Defense of Armenia.

 "All this proves that there are high-level political relations between our two countries, grounded in traditional friendship, mutual assistance, willingness, shared values, and common approaches of the peoples of both nations," said Papikyan.

According to him, cooperation in the field of defense holds a significant position within these relations.

The cooperation is being carried out in directions of mutual interest, some of which are of a traditional nature and have been ongoing since the inception in the defense sector between the two countries formed after the independence of Armenia And the rest are the new domains formed as a result of agreements.

The minister also said that they had discussed issues related to military-technical cooperation.

"During the recent meeting, we discussed matters related to military-technical cooperation. In particular, we emphasized revitalizing military-technical cooperation following the ratification of the agreement on military-technical cooperation between the governments of Armenia and Greece, signed during my visit to Greece in December 2023,”  the minister said.
