Greece envisions successful collaboration with Armenia in innovative defense research

YEREVAN, MARCH 4, ARMENPRESS.  The Defense Ministers of Armenia and Greece discussed issues related to enhancing relations in the field of defense within the framework of the bilateral defense agreement, the Minister of National Defense of the Hellenic Republic, Nikolaos Dendias, said during a press statement.

"Today we are witnessing a very unstable situation because we are dealing with expansionist forces that ignore international law, international agreements, values, and principles of the United Nations. The common task of the international community should be to face these challenges. We must show that we are ready to prevent the escalation of conflicts and try to return to a peaceful situation. One should always act in accordance with international law," Dendias said.

He mentioned that they had discussed practical steps for developing bilateral relations with the Minister of Defense of Armenia, Suren Papikyan.

"This year, we have signed a military cooperation program in which the armed forces of both countries will participate. We have also achieved significant results in the past. There were many offers from Armenia to study at Greek military schools. And we plan to admit even more students in the coming years," said the minister.

At the same time, the minister expressed that the two countries could establish successful cooperation in the search for innovative solutions in the field of defense.

"I am pleased to inform you about the new Greek legislation regarding the establishment of a new research and innovation center. We would be delighted if the Armenian companies contribute to this system," the Greek Defense Minister concluded.
