YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 13, ARMENPRESS. The authorities have already implemented certain works in the direction of reopening the Goris airport, Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures Gnel Sanosyan said on Wednesday.

During a question time in parliament, Sanosyan was asked to give updates on what has been done in the airport after Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan instructed relevant agencies to restore it.

Sanosyan said that a working group has been dispatched to Syunik to outline the work and that they have worked with the Civil Aviation Committee.

Most of the work relates to the runway and adjacent infrastructures.

After restoration, the Goris airport could serve as a reserve airport, he said.

“But the Prime Minister’s instructions were broader, to try and have not only a reserve airport, but use it as an airport. We are now in the stage of technical works and financial calculations. Soon another working group will visit the site,” Sanosyan said.
