BTA. Bulgarian High Schooler Ranks Top 5 in International Programme for Young Researchers

YEREVAN, AUGUST 8, ARMENPRESS/BTA. Bulgarian 11th-grader Radostin Cholakov ranked top 5 in the two rankings of the 40th edition of the Research Science Institute at the Center for Excellence in Education, Bulgaria's Ministry of Education and Science reported on Wednesday. As a result, Cholakov will be among the 100 accomplished high school students, who will gather at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology over the summer to participate in a summer science and engineering programme cost-free.

Cholakov is the first Bulgarian student to qualify for both the oral and written reports that will have the students present their findings at the end of the programme.

The student shared that during the programme I worked with Han Guo and Prof. Yoon Kim on a project on quantizing large language models. The goal is to make models such as the one implemented by ChatGPT smaller, so they can be used on more devices and by more people. Cholakov said that the project is ongoing, and he will continue his collaboration with Prof. Yoon to develop the project to a professional level.
