YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 8, ARMENPRESS. Croatian Foreign Minister Gordan Grlić-Radman and Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan concur that the deployment of the EU monitoring mission on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border can have a serious role in establishing peace in the region.

“Yes, I think the European Union, like the entire international community, has a very serious role in the future discussions of ensuring the rights and security of the people of Nagorno Karabakh and eliminating the ongoing blockade of Nagorno Karabakh. I repeat, there is only one way for the solution of all problems, peace talks, diplomatic path, and here the international community and particularly the European Union have a role to play,” Armenian FM Ararat Mirzoyan said at a joint press conference with Gordan Grlić-Radman when asked by a reporter whether the EU mission or generally the EU can contribute to restraining Azerbaijan’s aggressive actions and establishing peace and stability in the region.

Croatian Foreign Minister Gordan Grlić-Radman said he’s glad that Armenia attaches importance to the deployment of the EU monitoring mission to the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.

“This topic is truly highly important, how the European Union can utilize all efforts for establishing peace in the region. I am very happy that Armenia acknowledges the importance of the EU monitoring mission. I’d like to mention that the EU monitoring mission consists of up to 100 persons, and it has a term of two years. We’ve assumed this commitment as a party interested in stability in the region. This mission is a temporary instrument for establishing sustainable and lasting peace in the future. This doesn’t guarantee status quo in any way,” the Croatian FM said.
