7,4-magnitude earthquake: Turkey death toll climbs to 284, Syria death toll at 237

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 6, ARMENPRESS. The death toll in the 7,4-magnitude earthquake which hit Turkey’s Kahramanmaraş Province climbed to 284, and over 440 are injured, TASS news agency reported citing data from the Turkish Ministry of Emergency Situations.

TASS reported that Azerbaijan is planning to dispatch a 370-man rescue team to assist local emergency personnel.

The earthquake hit close to the Syrian border and caused deaths and destruction in Syria as well. According to the latest data, 237 people died and 639 were injured in Syria in the earthquake.
