Proposals developed by Western countries also not unacceptable, says Pashinyan

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 29, ARMENPRESS. Besides the Russian proposals, the proposals developed by Western countries in terms of negotiations with Azerbaijan are not unacceptable for Armenia too, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said.

“I have to say that the proposals developed by Western countries aren’t unacceptable for us too. One of the options, saying that let’s not focus too much on the Karabakh issue now, basically let’s consider this state to some extent a status quo, record and solve the issue of the Armenia-Azerbaijan relations – is not unacceptable, it is acceptable. Another approach is, let’s go and resolve the NK issue. Now a question could arise, which from these sides considers NK as part of Azerbaijan and which doesn’t. Unfortunately, the international community, all countries without exception consider Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan, and this is seen in all documents,” Pashinyan said.

Pashinyan said the Armenian side is ready for and wants peace. However, the Armenian PM emphasized that peace has never been established in such conflicts without a guarantor of the agreements around peace.

“It could be the superpowers. Who is helping us achieve peace and who is guaranteeing the implementation of agreements,” the PM said.

Pashinyan said that if in the past the Civil Contract Party’s greatest mission was to establish democracy in Armenia, today its biggest mission is to open an era of peaceful development for Armenia.
