EU monitors in Armenia set off on their first patrol

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 27, ARMENPRESS. The European Union’s monitors went to the Armenian-Azerbaijani border to conduct patrol, the European External Action Service’s specialized account EU Security and Defense said on Twitter.

“EU monitors in Armenia set off on their first patrol. For the next two months, the EU Monitoring Capacity will monitor the situation on the Armenian side of the Armenia/Azerbaijan border to build confidence and to contribute to the border commissions”, the statement says.

Within the framework of the first meeting of the European Political Community in Prague, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan and the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met on October 6, 2022 at the initiative of the President of the French Republic and the President of the European Council. Armenia expressed its agreement to facilitate the EU civilian mission along the border with Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan agreed to cooperate with the mentioned mission to the extent it will be concerned.
