YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 27, ARMENPRESS. Speaker of Parliament of Armenia Alen Simonyan received today the delegation led by Chair of the France-Armenia Friendship Group in the French Senate Gilbert-Luc Devinaz, the Parliament’s press service said.

In his remarks the Speaker of Parliament said that Armenia highly appreciates the official stance of French President Emmanuel Macron on condemning the Azerbaijani aggression, preserving Armenia’s territorial integrity and initiating a UN Security Council meeting. He thanked the French partners for the visit of solidarity following the latest Azerbaijani aggression against Armenia.

The sides discussed the issue of immediate withdrawal of Azerbaijani troops from Armenia’s sovereign territory. They shared the same view that the use of force or threat of force is unacceptable, highlighting the need for international mechanisms aimed at preventing further escalations.

“We expect our French partners will continue making efforts for the immediate return of Armenian prisoners of war and the stop of the systematic destruction of Armenian historical-cultural and religious heritage in the territories of Artsakh that have come under the Azerbaijani control”, the Speaker of Parliament of Armenia said commenting on the post-war situation in Artsakh.
