YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 2, ARMENPRESS. A session dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Armenian Encyclopedia publishing house took place on November 2 at the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia.

“Armenpress” reports President of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia Radik Martirosyan told the reporters that the event is also dedicated to the presentation of the encyclopedic dictionary. “Encyclopedia is the face of each nation with condensed information. This is a key cultural issue and each nation wishes to fulfill it. But it needs highly qualified specialists of different spheres”, Radik Martirosyan said.

According to him the staff working on the encyclopedia fulfilled that task excellently. “The new encyclopedia is planned to be published in 10 volumes. That issue will be finalized during the final editorial decision.

The editor-in-chief of the new Armenian encyclopedia Hovhannes Ayvazyan told the journalists that encyclopedia is a criterion of civilization. “If a country has its own encyclopedia, it means that it is a level higher those who do not have in terms of civilizational level”.
