YEREVAN, OCTOBER 18, ARMENPRESS. Deploying OSCE observers in addition to the 40 EU monitoring experts to the Armenia-Azerbaijan border from the Armenian side is under discussion, Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said.

“The topic of dispatching also OSCE observers to the Armenia-Azerbaijan border from the side of the Armenian territory is under discussion. We will have clarity over this issue very soon,” Mirzoyan said.

Asked about the expectations from the EU mission, the FM said the expectations did not change.

“We expect international participation, international role in South Caucasus and particularly on the Armenia-Azerbaijan border in establishing peace. Our expectations are for the mission to have a certain fact-finding part, and these facts will prove the accuracy of the Armenian claims that an aggression has taken place against Armenia’s sovereign territory and that there is an Azerbaijani military invasion into the internationally recognized territory of Armenia. But first of all we must attribute to this mission an important mission of preventing a possible new aggression, and in a broader sense establishment of sustainable peace,” Mirzoyan said.
