CSTO leaders approve representative of Belarus to post of Secretary General

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 28, ARMENPRESS. Heads of member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) approved the representative of Belarus Stanislav Zas to the position of the CSTO Secretary General, acting CSTO Secretary General Valery Semerikov told reporters in Bishkek.

Stanislav Zas will assume the post from January 1, 2020.

“We had some issues regarding the appointment of the Secretary General. Today the heads of state congratulated the representative of Belarus Stanislav Zas on appointment to the post from January 1, 2020”, Semerikov said.

The session of the CSTO Collective Security Council kicked off today in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, chaired by Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov.

The session is attended by Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Russia Vladimir Putin and President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.
