YEREVAN, OCTOBER 24, ARMENPRESS. Armenian prime minister’s spokesperson Vladimir Karapetyan commented on the question relating to the reasons for the dismissal of deputy police chief Hovhannes Kocharyan.
The PM’s spokesman told Armenpress that the reason for the dismissal was the political statement made by Hovhannes Kocharyan.
“The prime minister has repeatedly stated that the Police officers, the servicemen of the Armed Forces should refrain from politics and not make statements of a political nature. The management form of the Police is a political issue”, Karapetyan said.
President of Armenia Armen Sarkissian signed a decree on relieving Hovhannes Kocharyan from the position of deputy police chief.
The President signed the respective decree based on the prime minister’s proposal.
