Authorities study British national’s accounts on 2001 killing involving Kocharyan’s security detail

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 6, ARMENPRESS. The General Prosecution is studying the accounts of British national Stephen Newton which the latter had told the news media about the killing of Poghos Poghosyan 18 years earlier, General Prosecution spokesperson Arevik Khachatryan told ARMENPRESS.

Newton has claimed to the news media that he witnessed how then-President Robert Kocharyan’s bodyguards battered to death Poghos Poghosyan in the restroom of Aragast, a café in downtown Yerevan. Poghosyan was a patron at the cafe.

The British citizen has also said that in 2001 a court presided over by Judge Mnatsakan Martirosyan dismissed his testimonies because it was in English language.
