Special Investigations Service forwards ex-finance minister’s case to National Security Service

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 3, ARMENPRESS. The case of former Minister of Finance Gagik Khachatryan has been forwarded by the Special Investigations Service to the National Security Service to continue the investigation, General Prosecution spokesperson Arevik Khachatryan told ARMENPRESS.

Khachatryan, a former Finance Minister and former President of the State Revenue Committee, is charged with embezzlement and official misconduct.

According to authorities 800,000,000 drams in damages to the state have already been recovered amid the probe.

Khachatryan is currently jailed pending trial. He was arrested on August 27. His nephew, who was also once a high ranking official at the State Revenue Committee, is also under arrest. The criminal investigation relates to Khachatryan’s action during his years in office.
