Pashinyan attaches importance to tax legislation reforms for the benefit of small and medium business

YEREVAN, MARCH 5, ARMENPRESS. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan commented on the questions concerning the domestic political developments and economic changes in the country at the meeting in the European Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee, reports Armenpress.

Pashinyan noted that in this context the government’s ideology remains the same.

“It is based on encouraging the people to take concrete actions to determine their future. After the political revolution we urge and encourage the people to carry out an active economic activity. Before the revolution we had monopolies and oligarchy which were limiting the economic activity opportunities in our country. But now we are opening the field by creating equal conditions for all players”, the Armenian PM said.

He also attached importance to the tax legislation reform for the benefit of small and medium business. “We will try to create a new field for economic activity – microbusiness, where people will be free of taxes. We are also going to make legislative changes to improve the investment environment. In line with this we are going to develop infrastructures for which we need technical and financial support also from the EU. I again want to state that we need to further strengthen the democratic institutions in Armenia. I would like to specifically emphasize that democracy and rule of law are irreversible in Armenia, and the previous corrupt system cannot return”, the Armenian PM said.

Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan is in Brussels on a working visit.
