French climbers rescued from Armenian mountain, one pronounced dead during medevac

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 22, ARMENPRESS. A French citizen who was injured in a mountain-climbing incident in Armenia has died, the ministry of emergency situations said.

Because of the rough terrain the scene of the incident was inaccessible for equipment and rescuers had to climb their way up.

At 15:40, the victim was pronounced dead by first responders while being airlifted from the area.

The other 4 mountaineers are in normal condition and did not require medical treatment.

Other details weren’t immediately clear.

The incident happened when the 5 French citizens were climbing a mountain near the Aghveran resort in Kotayk province.
