YEREVAN, DECEMBER 20, ARMENPRESS. The European Union opposes any case of appearance of its MEPs in the Azerbaijani “black list”, Sajjad Karim, Co-Chair of theEU-ArmeniaParliamentary Cooperation Committee, said after the 17th session of the EU-Armenia Parliamentary Cooperation Committee, stating that during each visit the status of MEPs must be clarified.
“The MEPs freely conducted their parliamentary activity and assisted any principles which they support. We will resist the cases of appearance of our MEPs in the “black list”, but in line with this we need to understand the following: it’s necessary to clarify that they visit there on an official visit, on behalf of the EU or the European Parliament, rather than as an individual lawmaker. This will cause an unhealthy confusion”, he said.
The 17 session of the EU-Armenia Parliamentary Cooperation Committee was held in the Armenian Parliament from December 19 to 20 during which issues relating to bilateral cooperation were discussed.
