YEREVAN, DECEMBER 20, ARMENPRESS. By signing a new agreement with the European Union Armenia shows that it is able to make its own decisions as a sovereign country, Sajjad Karim, Co-Chair of theEU-ArmeniaParliamentary Cooperation Committee, said after the 17th session of the EU-Armenia Parliamentary Cooperation Committee, reports Armenpress.
“Armenia is the first country which establishes deeper relations with the European Union while being a member of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). We do not see any contradiction with each other. By this Armenia shows that it can make its own decisions as a sovereign country having a clearly formed range of principles of its future ambitions, at the same time taking into account its geographical position, and in this sense Armenia really appears in a position of strength. We see the situation in this way, and we hope all those who are close to Armenia by geographical position, will be able to help this vector of journey and this process”, he said.
Armenia and the EU signed the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA) in Brussels on November 24.
