Armenian FM receives EU Special Representative for South Caucasus and crisis in Georgia

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 1, ARMENPRESS. Armenia’s foreign minister Edward Nalbandian on December 1 received newly-appointed EU Special Representativefor theSouth Caucasusand the crisis in Georgia Toivo Klaar, press service of the ministry told Armenpress.

The FM congratulated Toivo Klaar on his appointment and wished him success expressing hope that he will contribute to settling the current issues within the frames of his mandate.

During the meeting issues relating to the Armenia-EU ties were discussed. Both officials attached importance to the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement signed on November 24, stating that it is a firm legal base for further strengthening and deepening the cooperation between Armenia and the EU.

FM Nalbandian presented Armenia’s stances, as well as the joint efforts of Armenia and the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair countries on the peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict.

The EU Special Representative thanked for the wishes and said he accepts his mission with full responsibility and reaffirmed the EU’s support to the efforts and approaches of the OSCE MG Co-Chairs aimed at settling the NK conflict exclusively by peaceful means.

The officials also exchanged views on regional and international issues.
