YEREVAN, JUNE 9, ARMENPRESS. The ministry of transportation, communication and information technologies began working on Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan’s assignment, whereby the taxi services nearby Zvartnots Airport must be regulated.
Ministry officials carried out preventive works with both individual cab drivers, as well as taxi service drivers outside the airport. Some drivers were fined.
Inspectors of the ministry approached drivers outside the airport and asked for relevant documents – registration, license etc.
Out of the initially asked 7 drivers, only one had all required documents.
Some of the drivers said they don’t know where the license is and told the inspectors to contact their employers.
During the recent Cabinet meeting, PM Karapetyan told relevant authorities to regulate this issue, since in his words, the cab drivers outside the airport are the first thing what tourists see upon arrival, thus, everything must be supervised and decently offered.
