EP President urges Turkey’s Erdogan to respect press freedom

YEREVAN, MAY 26, ARMENPRESS. President of the European Parliament Antonio Tajaniprovided details of the meeting with Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in an interview with the German Die Welt, reports Armenpress.

Tajani said he had ‘clear and realistic’ meeting with Erdogan.

“I told Erdogan that Turkey must show respect to the freedom of media. Ensuring freedom for journalists is an important precondition for joining the European Union”, Antonio Tajanisaid.

He informed that Turkey’s membership to the EU will be impossible if death penalty is restored.
