The Wall Street Journal refers to premier of “The Promise”

YEREVAN, MAY 1, ARMENPRESS. The film “The Promise” that was realized by the initiative of American-Armenian businessman-philanthropist Kirk Kirkorian is among the most expensive films made this year.

“Armenpress” reports The Wall Street Journal has referred to the film, noting that it’s difficult to make such a film in Hollywood without a funding by a philanthropist when there is no book or TV script.

“Kirkorian was one among the American with Armenian origin who for decades supported Armenian charity organizations worldwide. The film “The Promise” funded by Kirkorian is of great value for the Armenian community as a film classified among the list of films about the massacre of Armenians implemented by the Ottoman Empire in 1915.

The film makers planned to achieve something of the same value as Schindler's List or Hotel Rwanda reflecting the historical atrocities”, the newspaper writes, adding that it will have a great impact on awareness raising of human rights violations during the entire history of global politics.

WSJ also gave some information on Kirk Kirkorian’s biography.
