Armenia establishes Consulate General in Iraq’s Erbil

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 28, ARMENPRESS. Armenia plans to establish Consulate Generalin Iraq’s Erbil, “Armenpress” reports the draft decree of the Armenian President is included in March 2 session of the Armenian Cabinet.

According to the justification the relations between Armenia and Iraq have significantly progressed in the recent 5-6 years, particularly, the Embassy of Iraq has reopened in Yerevan, sessions of Armenian-Iraqi inter-governmental commission on economic cooperation and business forums have been held, trade turnover between the two states increases year by year, direct flights in Bagdad-Erbil-Yerevan directions operate during touristic seasons.

The justification also notes that trade and economic cooperation between Armenia and Iraq is more visible in Iraqi Kurdistan.
