YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 17, ARMENPRESS. Overall, 1539 candidates are included in the lists of parties that submitted applications for participation in Armenia’s upcoming parliamentary election, Chairman of the Central Electoral Commission Tigran Mukuchyan said at a meeting with reporters on February 17, reports “Armenpress”.

“Overall, 1191 candidates from all political forces will take part in the election with regional lists”, he said.

With the regional electoral lists the most candidates have been nominated in Kotayk province, whereas the least candidates were in Tavush and Aragatsotn provinces. Mukuchyan informed that 110 candidates were nominated with a ranked voting system in Kotayk province, and 60 candidates in Tavush and Aragatsotn provinces.

He said the CEC is going to carry out quite a serious work within the coming 10 days since the registration process of the parties which submitted applications for participation must be completed. “We need to carry out quite serious works since we have to not only examine the nomination documents of all parties, but also to check the information data of all people included in the lists”, he said.

5 parties (Republican Party of Armenia, Armenian Revival, Free Democrats, Armenia’s Communist Party, ARF) and 4 party alliances (Yelk, Ohanyan-Raffi-Oskanyan, Tsarukyan, Armenian National Congress-People’s Party of Armenia) submitted nomination documents for participation in the parliamentary election to the Central Electoral Commission.
