It’s time for international community to sober Azerbaijan – Armenia’s FM

YEREVAN, JANUARY 31, ARMENPRESS. Time has come for the international community, and first of all, the three Co-Chairing countries to sober Azerbaijan which acts against their calls, demands and has lost the sense of reality, Armenia’s Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian said at a press conference on January 31, in response to “Armenpress” question what was the goal of the Azerbaijani sabotage infiltration attempt on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border on December 29 and what steps the Armenian MFA has taken in this regard.

“The MFA issued respective statements immediately after the incident. Some ask why that was done and who has ordered it, the Azerbaijani leadership, certain local commanders or saboteurs did it? All options are very bad”, the FM said.

“I think no one doubts that the Azerbaijani leadership is capable of giving such orders since it is Baku which refuses from reducing the tension and strengthening the ceasefire regime. Let’s suppose, this time was an exception and the Azerbaijani leadership didn’t give order, rather, some local commanders did it. This speaks about the fact that there is just a “bedlam” in the Azerbaijani army. In other words, some commanders ignore their leadership and can do such actions which not only can escalate the situation, but also can lead to negative consequences”, Edward Nalbandian said.

As for the option that the saboteurs, who have lost their minds, did it, the FM said: “Of course, by listening to Goebbels' rhetoric of the Azerbaijani leadership, it is not a coincidence that there can be such phenomena within the Azerbaijani public who speak about crowd distraught. Otherwise, how it can be that the public opinion surveys conducted in Azerbaijan in January show that 92% of the Azerbaijani public supports settling the issue by use of force and military way. I think it’s time for the international community and first of all, the three Co-Chairing countries to sober Azerbaijan which opposes to their calls, demands and has lost the sense of reality”.
