Draft law on “Parties” of Armenia discussed with Venice Commission and OSCE/ODIHR representatives

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 16, ARMENPRESS. Justice Minister of Armenia Arpine Hovhannisyan on November 15 received the representatives of the Venice Commission and OSCE/ ODIHR experts to discuss a number of issues related to the draft law on “Parties” of Armenia, press service of the Ministry told “Armenpress”.

The Justice Minister highly appreciated the existing cooperation with the partners of the two structures and presented the changes proposed by the draft law on “Parties”.

The Minister said the draft law proposes to eliminate the control of the state authorities, to change the number of members required for party registration, the requirement of having a regional office and etc. Arpine Hovhannisyan said this approach facilitates the party registration process.

The Minister informed the guests that the draft law on “Parties” will be discussed in the Public Council under the Justice Minister, as well as in the Parliament soon.

At the end of the meeting the Minister answered to the experts’ questions.
