YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 14, ARMENPRESS. Newly appointed PM of Armenia Karen Karapetyan introduced at the National Assembly the steps the new government plans to implement for propelling the country’s economy.

During the question and answer session at the parliament the PM mentioned that he plans to introduce a plan comprised of two stages. “There will be no rapid changes in the first stage, but there will be the measures we will be able to implement in the near future. For the second stage we need time to decide which direction to pursue”, “Armenpress” reports Karapetyan mentioning.

He added that no one should expect the newly formed government to change the economy instantly. “Now I announce that no one should have any expectations for a rapid change, but we will give signals about the directions we will lead the country”, the Armenian PM said.

Karen Karapetyan also stated that the new government will use also the program of the previous government. “We must be able to create maximally friendly conditions for gaining extra benefits. This may seem a very generalized formula, but for now this is all, as welfare states are those where one who creates, does business or creates extra benefits feels happy. Resource-rich countries are not among those states. We will introduce our future steps to you”, the PM said.

He clarified that by saying that there will be no rapid changes it does not mean there will be no measures taken. “We will undertake concrete steps aimed at mitigating social tension and improvement of business environment. But we must understand that we have no magic stick. Now I announce that if we want to make changes in our economy, we must make real and structural changes” The PM said.

Referring to the question about the principles of forming a new government, Karen Karapetyan said the new government will be comprised of professional cadres.
