June 26 – Armenian Air Force Day

YEREVAN, JUNE 26, ARMENPRESS. June 26 is the Air Force day in the Armenian Armed Forces. This year is the 24th anniversary of the formation of the Armenian Air Force.

The Armenian Air Force is one of the first branches of the Armenian Armed Forces.

The Air Force is in constant cooperation and training with NATO, CSTO and other organizations.

The Armenian Air Force was formed simultaneously with ongoing defense military operations at the orders, during a breakthrough period for the state and Armed Forces.

In 1992, the Aviation and Air Defense forces were formed in the newly established Defense Ministry. Later the same year, under the decree of the Defense Minister, the Aviation Department was separated from the Air Defense Department.

In 1993 the first Aviation Education Center was established. In 2001, the Air Force Institute was established on the ground of the center. In 2005, the Institute was named after Marshal Armenak Khanperyants. In 2016, the Institute received the status of a University.
