NKR FM says no document is viable unless elaborated with NKR participation

YEREVAN, MAY 5, ARMENPRESS. Any document on the settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict is noy viable if NKR did not participate in its elaboration, Foreign Minister of NKR Karen Mirzoyan told eadaily.com, answering the question of what position NKR holds on the document of “Madrid principles”.

“Nagorno Karabakh Republic must participate in the negotiation process as a full-fledged party with its direct participation in the elaboration of the document of the final settlement of the conflict, starting from the discussion of ideas and approaches for the settlement to signing and implementation of the peaceful agreement. Hence, any document elaborated without NKR’s participation is not viable”, “Armenpress” reports Mirzoyan saying.

Referring to the measures taken for international recognition of Nagorno Karabakh Republic (Artsakh), Mirzoyan said that the international recognition of NKR is one of foreign policy priorities of Artsakh. “The people of NKR are determined to build and reinforce their statehood based on democratic norms”, NKR Foreign Minister said, adding that they have already recorded significant progress. He clarified that 7 U.S and 1 Australian States, as well as the Basque parliament have adopted resolutions defending the right of NKR people to self-determination. “International recognition of NKR will put an end to Azerbaijan’s unceasing attempts to destroy Artsakh and exterminate its people and will ensure peace and security throughout the region”, Karen Mirzoyan stated.
