There are all conditions for development of skiing in Armenia

YEREVAN, JANUARY 16, ARMENPRESS. Armenia's ski federation launched cooperation with Norway’s ski federation for the development of skiing in our country. Norwegian experts are in Armenia now and will train coaches for the development of skiing.

Armenia's ski federation along with Norway’s ski federation and Armenian Olympic Committee holds a training seminar of coaches. This seminar is the start of the cooperation with Norway. As “Armenpress” reports, Gagik Sargsyan,General Secretaryof theArmenian Ski Federation mentioned about this during the interview with journalists on January 16.

“We are laying the groundwork for cooperation with the Norwegian Ski Federation. The Norwegian Ski Federation is the world's best both in skiing and in alpine skiing and we, having good conditions for cooperation with our partners, decided to try developing skiing sport in Armenia,” Sargsyan said adding that the first step of collaboration with Norway related to trainings of trainers is already done. The seminar will last till January 1 after which further steps of cooperation will be discussed.

Brit Baldishol, Head of Development in Norway’sskiing, said that they try to develop sport in Nrway and make other countries part of it otherwise Norway will lose skiing as a sport.

“I am glad that Armenian ski federation contacted with us. We started to cooperate and I and my partners are in Armenia to hold the seminar. I saw a big opportunity to develop skiing in Armenia,” Baldishol said.

She stressed that there are many places where there is snow in Armenia and several prerequisites for the development of skiing in Armenia. The athletes only need to train, train and train.
