YEREVAN, JANUARY 11, ARMENPRESS. Grabar-ashkharhabar (ancient-modern Armenian languages)versions of “Book of Lamentations” have been released in one book.
Historian, publicist and public figure Rafael Hambardzumyan informed “Armenpress” that it is a unique and unprecedented publication which will greatly help those wishing to cure themselves with the help of “Narek” reading the original version of the piece, instead of the ashkharabar. The best grabar edition of the book is considered the one released in 1774 in Constantinople.
Just that edition was transmuted into ashkharabar by armenologist Ashot Petrosyan, installing the translation in front of the original. This transmutation of “Narek” is unprecedented as Ashot Petrosyan left the original fragments that are familiar to the reader in grabar.
This publication becomes a factor supporting the actions aimed at introducing grabar into school curriculum.
