YEREVAN, DECEMBER 21, ARMENPRESS. The person giving false testimony over Sevag Sahin Balikci's case and the man who drove the witness to act like that were sentenced to imprisonment in Turkey’s Batman Province. As “Armenpress” reports, “Agos” newspaper informs about the aforementioned.

Ekshi informed in his preliminary testimonies that Sevag was deliberately killed but then he changed his testimony saying that “There was no quarrel or dispute, the incident happened after a joke.”

Killed soldier's family appealed the testimony in the result of which the witness again gave a testimony and informed he had changed the words being under pressure.

The court ruled to sentence Halil Ekshi to 2 years and one month and Bulent Kaya – to 3 years and 1 month imprisonment.

Three weeks before his service in the Turkish military ended, Private Sevag Sahin Balikci, 25, was shot and killed in his army unit stationed in Gumusorgu, near the Kozluk district of Batman province, in southeastern Turkey. The incident happened on April 24, on the 96th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

Sevak’s parents insist their son was killed because he was Armenian.
