Emir Kusturica to visit Armenian Genocide Memorial

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 21, ARMENPRESS. World-known director and musician Emir Kusturica will arrive in Armenia in the evening of December 24. “Mezzo Production” Company and the organizer of the concert of Emir Kusturica and “The No Smoking Orchestra” folk-rock group informed “Armenpress” about this.

“Kusturica will visit Armenian Genocide Memorial to pay tribute to the victims of the genocide and he will as well as visit the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute. During his visit he will also meet with officials,” the company informed.

The concert of Emir Kusturica and “The No Smoking Orchestra” folk-rock group will take place on December 25, in Sports/Concert Complex after Karen Demirchyan.

The concert will held at the Armenian Ministry of Culture and supported by the coordination committee of the Armenian Genocide commemoration events.

Emir Nemanja Kusturica (born 24 November 1954 in Sarajevo) is a Serbian filmmaker, actor and musician of Bosnian origin. Widely regarded as one of the most innovative filmmakers of his generation, Emir Kusturica twice won the Cannes Film Festival Palme d'Or. He is also a recipient of the FrenchOrdre des Arts et des Lettres. In 2001, Kusturica directed Super 8 Stories, a documentary road and concert movie about The No Smoking Orchestra, of which he is a band member. Zabranjeno Pusenje (Bosnian for "No Smoking") was a Yugoslavian garage rock band from Sarajevo, closely associated with the New primitivism cultural movement and the radio and television satire show Top Lista Nadrealista. They were one of the most popular musical acts of the1980s in Yugoslavia, selling hundreds of thousands of records. In addition to walking in film Kusturica is known for being a member of “The No Smoking Orchestra” folk-rock group. Emir Kusturica managed to visit Armenia. He was a guest of “Golden Apricot” international festival.
