Merkel warned about possibility of military conflict in Europe: DWN

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 3, ARMENPRESS. Chancellor Angela Merkel warned aboutthe possibility ofa military conflict if Germany would close the border toAustria tostop the influx ofrefugees.”Armenpress” informs about this, citing sputniknews.com.

According tothe politician, the closure ofthe border would lead tonumerous disruptions aswell asincreasing tensions inEurope, especially inthe Western Balkans.

Merkel referred tothe negative experience withthe Hungarian fence, which has already fueled tensions inEurope, and said that the creation ofsuch a fence onthe German border is outof question.

"There will be disruptions," Merkel said onMonday duringa CDU meeting inDarmstadt, adding that she wants toprevent negative developments inthe future.

Due tothe high influx ofrefugees onthe Balkan route, there had been considerable tensions betweenBalkan countries. Should Germany close the border torefugees, other countries would do the same, experts warned. Moreover, incase ofthe construction ofa fence onthe Austrian-German border, refugees would try toreach Germany throughother countries anyway.

I'm pretty sure that one can manage it," Merkel stated, adding that Germany asa large EU country has toact step bystep tofind a different, solidary solution ofthe refugee crisis inEurope.
