4 MNS generals fired in Azerbaijan: More expected from Azerbaijani MNS

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 23, ARMENPRESS. Nine high-ranking employees of Azerbaijani Ministry of National Security (MNS) were dismissed.

“Armenpress” reports about the aforesaid, citing Trend news agency.

Those dismissed are the Chief of the MNS Main Directorate for Combating Transnational Economic Crime Major General Subahir Gurbanov, Chief of the MNS Main Directorate Major General Tarverdi Mammadov, Chief of the MNS Main Directorate Major General Parviz Safarov, Military Unit Commander Major General Vugar Allahguliyev, Chief of the MNS Airports Directorate Colonel Parviz Valiyev, the Deputy Chief of the MNS Personnel Department Colonel Tehran Babatov, and heads of departments of Khatai and Pirallahi districts of Baku, and Masalli district.

According to another report received by Trend, the personnel reforms in the MNS will continue, and in the coming days it is expected to dismiss other high-ranking officials.

Azerbaijani Prosecutor General’s Office released information Oct. 20 about the arrest of high-ranking officers of the Ministry of National Security.

The information said the prosecutor's office instituted criminal proceedings on the facts of abuse of power by national security ministry officials and other violations of the law under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.

As a result of the investigative and operational measures, reasonable suspicion of abuse of power by a group of employees of the ministry while on duty, violation of the requirements of the law on operational and search activities, their illegal interference in the activities of business entities, violation of the rights and legitimate interests of individuals have been revealed.
