NA deputy: Azerbaijan’s behavior makes Armenia take retributive steps

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 1, ARMENPRESS. Azerbaijan’s policy to incite regular border tensions and the inadequate response of the international society to that, make Armenia declare that from the perspective of security, the Republic of Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh Republic are one and the same territory and remind that Armenia Is the security guarantor of Nagorno Karabakh Republic. NA Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) faction member Karen Bekaryan mentioned about this in an interview with journalists on October 1, referring to Serzh Sargasyan’s announcement of Nagorno Karabakh being inseparable part of Armenia.

“Azerbaijan regularly takes provocative measures, incites border tension, and has started to use larger and larger caliber weapons recently. Armenia makes emergency calls to the international society, informs the Minsk Group Co-chairs and receives equalized announcement that they are concerned. Armenia continues to make emergency calls, while Azerbaijan activates its cynical and impudent behavior. In this case, Armenia has no other option than to remind that Armenia is the security guarantor of Nagorno Karabakh Republic and that they are the same territory from security perspective. All these make to announce also that if nothing is done to restrain Azerbaijan, the Armenian side has to take retributive measures”, Bekaryan emphasized, “Armenpress” reports.

The deputy noted that when political maturity and culture do not exist, making concessions, humanitarian measures or not retaliating to provocations by one side is perceived as a sign of weakness by the other. According to him, not responding to Azerbaijani provocations is perceived by them and introduced to the public as a sign of weakness of the Armenian side.
