President of Armenian boxing federation hopes to win four places for Olympic Games

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 1, ARMENPRESS. Armenian Boxing Federation PresidentArtur Gevorgyan is full of hope before the world championship where Olympic ratings will be played. Though it remains only 300 days before the start of the Olympic Games in Rio, the Armenian boxers have not qualified for those games yet. In the interview with “Armenpress”, Gevorgyan spoke about the upcoming world championship, as well as mentioned how many places he hopes to win for the Rio Olympic Games.

-What expectations do you have from the world championship of boxing?

Three boxers represent Armenia in the world championship of boxing. All the three boys are experienced and there is an expectation from the three of them. To say sincere, we do not have evident leaders today, that I can be sure that one of them can become a champion of the world. But I am convinced that each of them can qualify for the championship and return with medals. The rest depends on the fortune, whether the fate will be favorable for them or not.

-Do you really think that we are able to win 4 ratings for the Rio Olympics?

-Yes, 2 girls and 2 boys will be able to win 4 ratings for the Olympic Games. Let us do not forget that our girls are quite strong. At the beginning of the next year they will go to the world championship and will qualify by their wins.
