MEP condemns silence of international society over Azerbaiajan activities

BRUSSELS, SEPTEMBER 29, ARMENPRESS. Member of European Parliament Jordi Sebastia is confident that the latest attacks by Azerbaijan on Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh are aimed to destabilize the situation in the region. He strictly condemned the inactivity of the international society to restrain the activities of the Azerbaijani government in an interview with the reporter of “Armenpress”. “I am ashamed of the behavior of the international society. It pays o attention and looks in another direction. It is sad, but I think it is explained by economic interests. Azerbaijan seriously pressures Europe, particularly using its energetic resources”, the MEP mentioned.

He expressed confidence that Europe has to support peace and establishment of peaceful co-existence in Caucasus. “The attacks are aimed at destabilizing the region. Azerbaijan is against democratic governments, as the country’s drawbacks will become more vivid in case of its presence. At this point Azerbaijan is synonym to corruption and violation of human rights”, Jordi Sebastia concluded, adding that the Azerbaijani authorities oppress democracy by all means.
