YEREVAN, AUGUST 17, ARMENPRESS. The attorneys of the Avetisyan family successors had no definite answer to the question where Valery Permyakov, who had killed 7 members of the family, should be retained during the trial of the Armenian side. Attorney Erem Sargsyan told the latter during the meeting with the journalists. According to him, at this point we deal with arrest as a preventive measure but when the decision of the Russian side enters into force, Permyakov must suffer punishment. As to where, is not known.
“It is not known to this point whether the Russian military base has conditions of suffering the punishment. The problem is that on one hand Permyakov must suffer his punishment, on the other his presence must be ensured during the trial carried out by the Armenian side. We cannot say now what solutions will be given to that problem”, Armenpress reports, Sargsyan noted. However, he expressed confidence that within the context of agreements, reached when the materials were transferred to the Armenian side, this matter would also be agreed upon.
“I think his presence will be ensured during the trial of the Armenian side. I don’t know where he will be detained, who will present him to the court. I think the presence will be ensured by all means in order to give a verdict, as there can’t be any verdict and court trial without Permyakov’s participation. It is not established by the legislation”, added Erem Sargsyan.
Attorney Yervand Varosyan said that the proceedings of the murder part of the case will be held in Shirak District Court of First Instance but it is not clear where exactly the trial will be held.
Attorney Mihran Poghosyan informed that they had presented a petition to the investigative body to make Permyakov’s attempt of crossing illegally the Armenia-Turkey border an object of investigation. The attorneys also informed that they would appeal to make forensic psychological and psychiatric examination in the Armenian side to receive thorough information on Permyakov’s mental health.
Mihran Poghosyan said that Permyakov also had an intention of making theft when entering the house. The latter must also be included in the case.
