No coalition government to be formed in Turkey

YEREVAN, AUGUST 13, ARMENPRESS. No government coalition will be formed between the ruling “Justice and Development” party and the Kemalist People’s Party. “Armenpress” reports citing the Turkish “Hürriyet” periodic that the leader of the Kemalist party KemalKilicdaroglu announced about this after the meeting with the Turkish Prime Minister, leader of the ruling party Ahmet Davutoğlu.

“We had contradictions with the CHP over foreign policy and education at the outset”, Davutoğlu said, adding that 12-year old ruling party could not reach an agreement with the 12-year opposition of Kilicdaroglu. Seeing disagreement as a natural phenomenon the PM mentioned that they will continue efforts not to leave the country without a government.

Davutoğlu also announced that early elections are mostly probable.

As during the parliamentary election held on July 7 neither party managed to obtain an absolute majority of votes for forming a single-party government, the parties represented in the Majlis must come to an agreement over the formation of a coalition government within 45 days after the President’s assignment. If within 45 days no government is formed, early parliamentary election will be held in the country.
