Bronze taken away from Armenian athlete in Baku: coach

YEREVAN, JULY 3, ARMENPRESS: The chief coach of the Armenian boxing team in the First European Games Karen Aghamalyan expressed an opinion that the judging in Baku was not in favor of the Armenian athletes, and was even directed against our boxers.

Speaking about the fans, the coach stated that there were groups in the tribunes, which were worshipping the opponents during all the fights of the Armenian boxers. “The fans had posters with them, though bearing no racist or fascist expressions. The referees, seeing all that, were ashamed of looking at us with clear eyes. Our boys were coming to every fight with a smile and an open forehead. So, we can conclude that the boys are ready to fight even under these conditions. Our participants of the European Games did not have an obvious leader and the boys knew about it. We were a strong and a solid team, ready to fight till the end. The bronze medal of Narek Avgaryan was taken away from us. I can state that Aram Avagyan and Samvel Barseghyan as well “did not lose””, - stated the specialist.
