Deputy Chief of Yerevan’s Police again conveys proposal of meeting with President to protestors

YEREVAN, JUNE 22, ARMENPRESS. The Deputy Chief of Police of the Yerevan Valery Osipyan has again stated that the proposal of meeting with the President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan conveyed by the Chief of Police of the Republic of Armenia Vladimir Gasparyan is still in force. As “Armenpress” reporter informs, the Deputy Chief of Police told the citizens that a group of five can go to the meeting. ''It would be right, if you accept the President's proposal, form a group and meet him. I assure you that you will be satisfied with the meeting.”

Among other things, the Deputy Chief of Police of Yerevan Valery Osipyan stated that although the Police officers are also displeased by the increase of prices, but they will not tolerate unlawful actions. Osipyan also highlighted that notwithstanding the rally is peaceful, but it is still illegal. The protestors have turned down the proposal again and continue sit-down strike in Yerevan’s Baghramyan Avenue.

Previously it was reported that the participants of the protest action against the increase of the electricity price preferred to continue their rally in the Baghramyan Avenue holding a sit-down strike. Before that, the Chief of Yerevan’s Police Ashot Karapetyan again urged the protestors to form a group of five, which will be taken to the Presidential Resident of the Republic of Armenia, as President Serzh Sargsyan expressed willingness to meet with the representatives of the protestors.

As “Armenpress” reporter informs, the Chief of Yerevan’s Police Ashot Karapetyan underscored: “Within a reasonable period of time, the coordinators of the “No to Plunder” initiative’s protest action will be taken to the Presidential Residence.”

Notwithstanding, the participants of the protest action refuse the suggestion demanding the President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan to annul the decision on raising the electricity price by AMD 6.93. The protestors began a sit-down strike in capital Yerevan’s Baghramyan Avenue.
