YEREVAN, JUNE 10, ARMENPRESS. The members of the Executive Committee of the World Council of Churches offered an ecumenical prayer to God in Yerevan’s Tzitzernakaberd Armenian Genocide Memorial Complex. In their prayers, the church leaders mentioned the holy martyrs of the Armenian Genocide, condemned genocides and denialism, prayed for the Iraqi Christians, kidnapped priests and for peace in the world.

As reports “Armenpress”, His Grace Bishop Hovakim Manukian, Director of the Inter Church Relations Department of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, presided over the prayer with participation of about 40 representatives of churches and Armenian deacons. The Statement of the World Council of Churches on the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide also was introduced in the Memorial Complex.

The Statement of the World Council of Churches on the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide urges the international community and member states of the World Council of Churches to commemorate the Armenian Genocide, thus preventing the genocides and other crimes against humanity.
