Bashar al-Assad promised Armenian MPs to recognize the Armenian Genocide

YEREVAN, JUNE 9, ARMENPRESS. The President of Syria Bashar al-Assad has promised that Syria will soon join other countries recognizing the Armenian Genocide. Assad said this during his meeting with Armenian MPs, who had left for Syria on a working visit on 1-5 June.

As reports “Armenpress”, leader of the Armenia-Syria Parliamentary Friendship Group of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Tatchat Vardapetyan presented the results of the meeting with the President of Syria and informed that the MPs had meetings and discussions with the chairpersons of the Syrian parliamentary committees, which discussed and condemned the Armenian Genocide.

“During our meetings, we voiced hope that this process in the Syrian parliament would be ongoing and would reach its logical end. We discussed the issue again during the meeting with President Assad and he mentioned that Syria would definitely join the countries recognizing and condemning the Armenian Genocide in the near future,” Vardapetyan said.
