Over 3 thousand Syrian-Armenians received Armenian citizenship in 2014

YEREVAN, MAY 26, ARMENPRESS. 13 thousand 266 people received Armenian citizenship last year. 3 thousand 613 of them were Syrian-Armenians. 2 thousand 200 people gave up the citizenship. As reports “Armenpress”, Vigen Sargsyan, the Head of the Armenian President’s Staff, stated this introducing the state budget performance report for 2014 at the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia.

Among other things, Vigen Sargsyan underscored: “We are concerned by any case of renunciation of the citizenship, but it’s the citizen’s right stipulated by the constitution. There always will be citizens, which will prefer the citizenship of other countries. There are cases of mixed marriages, children born in Armenia, then the citizenship of the parents were changed and now they change their citizenship too.”
