System of a Down’s Yerevan concert kicking off as part of Wake Up theSouls concert tour-LIVE

YEREVAN, 23 APRIL, ARMENPRESS. Citizens of Yerevan are listening to the performances by the rock band System of a Down at Republic Square. According to “Armenpress”, the band is launching its concert in Yerevan, which is part of the Wake Up the Souls concert tour and is devoted to raising awareness about the Armenian Genocide.

The concert tour is a great gift to the band’s fans following the release of SOAD’s last album in 2005 and is aimed at drawing the international community’s attention to the Armenian Genocide. “For us as Armenian Americans-as band members who all have had family go through this-it’s important for us not only to bring awareness, but also justice to this cause. This is a disease that still keeps occurring,” the band’s lead singer Serj Tankian had said earlier, according to Los Angeles Daily News.
