Seyran Ohanyan: “We managed to make the opponent suffer six times more losses last year”

GAVAR, 14 JANUARY, ARMENPRESS. During a meeting held at the culture home in Martuni city of Gegharkunik Province, Armenia’s Minister of Defense accepted the 2014 annual report of the second army corps of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia.

The minister touched upon the second army corps’ achievements in 2014, as well as the successes of the Armenian Army, raising the level of efficiency and continuing with reforms.“Through the efforts of the second army corpus, in 2014, we were able to not only keep our country’s borders impregnable, but were also able to identify and neutralize the enemy’s diversion group. Last year, we managed to make the opponent suffer six times more losses and reduce the number of killings or suicides caused by inter-personal relations, as well as other defective phenomena. In 2015, we’ll be guided by the motto “Qualitative Progress in Reforms”, with pretentious and realistic programs to achieve greater heights,” Seyran Ohanyan mentioned.

As “Armenpress” reports, the meeting began with an award ceremony. Commander of the second army corps of the Armenian Armed Forces, Major General Poghos Poghosyan granted weapons, an honorary flag, money, expensive domestic items and a watch to outstanding officers and military servicemen, commanders and separated subdivisions in different categories. Armenia’s Minister of Defense Seyran Ohanyan granted the commemorative medals of the Ministry of Defense to the soldiers of the second army corps, representatives of the state administration and local self-government bodies, as well as members of non-governmental organizations and mass media representatives. In his report, Poghos Poghosyan mentioned that the subdivisions of the second army corps had met all the objectives set in 2014 and assured that the corps would continue to reinforce defense on the borders and would take measures aimed at raising the level of efficiency of the army’s subdivisions this year. At the end, the minister expressed gratitude to the leaders of Gegharkunik Province, representatives of state administration and local self-government bodies, members of non-governmental organizations and mass media representatives for supporting the actions for development of the army, as well as for supporting and encouraging Armenian soldiers.
