His death was irreversible loss: Vladimir Movsisyan’s funeral took place

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 7, ARMENPRESS: Vladimir Movsisyan’s relatives, family members, friends and just Armenian citizens who respected the prominent state figure participated on November 7 in his funeral, Armenpress reports.

The funeral took place in St Sargis Church in Nor Nork. President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan accompanied by First Lady Rita Sargsyan attended the funeral. Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan, heads of departments and many other high ranking officials participated in the event.

Vladimir Movsisyan was Chairman of the Committee on Lake Sevan Issues, member of the Public Council. Vladimir Movsisyan (November 12, 1933, Shenavan,Spitakregion,Armenia– November 5, 2014, Yerevan, Armenia) was anArmenian politician.

He studied at higher school ofCPSUCentral Committee. He ruled the agro-industry inSoviet Armenia. In 1990 he was the First Secretary of theCommunist Party of Armeniathe last one who officially ruled Soviet Armenia (Movsisyan was succeed by the Chairman of the Supreme Soviet of the Republic of ArmeniaLevon Ter-Petrosyan). In 1993 he administered the defence ofIjevan. In the 1990s he was the governor ofGegharkunik, then the Minister of agriculture of Armenia. Movsisyan was also awarded the prestigiousSt. Mesrop Mashtotsmedal.
